Senior Accountant
Location: San Antonio, TX
Compensation: $75,000 – $85,000
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This role will be responsible for month-end close activities, financial statement preparation, fixed asset accounting, lease accounting under ASC 842, account reconciliations, and compliance reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements, and supporting schedules.
- Compile month-end reporting packages, including financial statements, accounts receivable aging reports, rent rolls, bank reconciliations, and related analyses.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation calculations, asset tracking, disposals, and reporting.
- Perform lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, including:
- Calculation of Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities.
- Determination of discount rates and lease payment schedules.
- Lease classification assessments (operating vs. finance leases).
- Recording, reconciliation, and reporting of lease-related transactions.
- Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules, lease schedules, fixed asset reports, debt compliance reports, and loan reporting packages.
- Complete monthly account reconciliations, investigate variances, and prepare supporting documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Support cash flow management and liquidity forecasting to meet operational and growth objectives.
- Track capital projects, purchase orders, long-term assets, and lease activity throughout their lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audits, tax filings, and financial reviews.
- Prepare quarterly and annual disclosures related to fixed assets, leases, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Partner with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support reporting needs and business objectives.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial statement preparation and month-end close responsibilities.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting, depreciation, capitalization policies, and asset lifecycle management.
- Working knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting and GAAP.
- Experience supporting external audits, tax compliance, internal controls, and financial reporting activities.
- Strong understanding of accounting systems, financial processes, and complex accounting transactions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
