Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
- Partner with the Controller and CFO on day-to-day accounting and finance operations as the Senior Accountant
- Lead month-end close activities, including recurring, non-recurring, and adjusting journal entries as the Senior Accountant
- Prepare bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations as the Senior Accountant
- Analyze financial activity, investigate variances, and identify unusual transactions or trends as the Senior Accountant
- Prepare supporting schedules and account analyses for financial reporting and audit purposes as the Senior Accountant
- Record fixed asset additions and prepare depreciation and amortization entries as the Senior Accountant
- Calculate and record monthly, quarterly, and annual accruals as the Senior Accountant
- Support financial statement preparation and maintain accurate general ledger reporting as the Senior Accountant
- Assist with accounting requirements related to ASC 842 and ASC 606 as the Senior Accountant
- Support local, state, and federal tax filings and compliance reporting as the Senior Accountant
- Participate in annual financial statement audits and 401(k) audits as the Senior Accountant
- Review and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and operational workflows as the Senior Accountant
- Support special projects and ongoing process improvement initiatives as the Senior Accountant
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or Business degree with an Accounting emphasis
- Strong general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting experience
- Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Knowledge of fixed assets, depreciation, amortization, and account analysis
- Experience supporting audits and internal control environments
- Exposure to ASC 842 and ASC 606 strongly preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
- Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience preferred
- Ability to independently manage priorities and recurring accounting deadlines
