Senior Construction Accountant
The Senior Construction Accountant will oversee project financials from inception through completion, helping ensure accurate cost tracking, timely billing, cash flow management, and overall project profitability. Key Responsibilities for the Senior Construction Accountant
- Manage project accounting activities from project startup through closeout
- Prepare and oversee AIA billings, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, accounts receivable, and contract compliance requirements
- Review contracts, subcontracts, and change orders to understand billing terms, payment schedules, and financial obligations
- Monitor project costs, job costing, budgets, commitments, and forecasts to support profitable project execution
- Partner with Project Managers to analyze financial performance, identify risks, and address cost overruns or budget variances
- Oversee subcontractor and vendor payment processes and support accounts payable activities related to projects
- Support monthly close procedures, financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking
- Reconcile project accounts and ensure the accuracy of financial data and project reporting
What we’re looking for in the Senior Construction Accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4–6+ years of construction accounting, project accounting, or related industry experience
- Strong understanding of job costing, AIA billing, WIP schedules, contract administration, and project financial reporting
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or multifamily construction projects
- Ability to partner effectively with project teams and communicate financial information to non-accounting stakeholders
