Senior Buyer
Location: Winstead, Connecticut (Onsite)
Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 (based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our team in a fully onsite role. This position plays a key role in managing supplier relationships, driving cost savings, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials to support manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate brings strong negotiation skills, a data-driven mindset, and hands-on experience with raw materials in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, and procure raw materials and components to support production
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving performance improvements
- Lead pricing negotiations and contract discussions to achieve cost savings
- Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance, cost, and delivery
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production, and planning teams
- Analyze market trends and supply risks to support strategic purchasing decisions
- Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules
- Identify and implement process improvements within the procurement function
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing/buying experience, preferably in manufacturing
- Proven experience procuring raw materials
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Experience tracking and managing KPIs
- Demonstrated career progression and professional growth
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
