My client, a well-respected, stable organization with over 40 years of history, is adding a Sr. Mortgage Underwriter. This is a supportive, collaborative work culture without the high-pressure dynamics of a banking environment. Mainly remote (2 days on-site monthly after 2-3 weeks of training in Nashville) with a 37.5-hour work week. PTO starts at 4 ½ Weeks immediately. The salary is up to $85,000. Overview of the Sr. Mortgage Underwriter:

  • The Sr. Mortgage Underwriter must have the ability to handle an underwriting volume during the peak season of 300-350 loans.
  • Process roughly 20 files weekly (not including re-works for conditions being submitted).
  • Determine eligibility by reviewing household income and loan details for MRB and MBS programs, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies with originating agents and lenders.
  • Verify loan data, underwriting findings, disclosures, and appraisals to ensure compliance with CFPB, RESPA, and agency guidelines.
  • Communicate with stakeholders (lenders, agents, internal teams) to resolve deficiencies, gather documentation, and support timely loan processing and closing.
  • Manage loan pipeline, review outstanding conditions, issue commitments and approvals, and handle exception requests within deadlines and rate lock requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, maintain professional relationships, support related teams, and assist with post-closing activities and issue resolution.

Qualifications of the Sr. Mortgage Underwriter:

  • Must have FHA DE or gov’t/conventional experience and can independently assess risk.
  • Must have the ability to train on-site in Nashville and go in twice a month or for a special meeting.
  • Must live within 200 miles of Nashville.
