Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
- Serve as a trusted Staff Accountant responsible for timely and accurate reconciliations across bank accounts, general ledger, and sub-ledgers
- Prepare and maintain detailed financial schedules to support month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Ensure documentation integrity and regulatory compliance throughout an active accounting system conversion
- Partner with leadership as a proactive Staff Accountant to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and recommend process improvements
- Support accounts payable, payroll, and departmental accounting schedules as business needs dictate
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and internal controls while balancing competing priorities during periods of change
Requirements of the Staff Accountant
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar accounting role, with strong exposure to GL accounting, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply them in real-world scenarios
- Intermediate Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
- Proven ability to work independently as a Staff Accountant while communicating clearly with finance leadership and cross-functional partners
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and adaptability in evolving accounting environments
