Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and maintain balance sheet supporting schedules
- Record journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting
- Monitor and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities
- Manage and analyze construction job costs, ensuring project expenses are coded accurately and tracked against budgets
- Review project financial performance and investigate cost variances
- Assist with job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and contract-related accounting activities
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to support project forecasting and cost controls
- Prepare audit schedules and assist with annual audits and compliance reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting required
- Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, WIP schedules, and construction financial reporting
- Experience working with Sage 100 Contractor
- Knowledge of construction contracts, project billing, retainage, and cost tracking preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to partner effectively with project and operations teams
- Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
