About the Role

An established organization in the homebuilding and construction industry is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its experienced Accounting & Finance team. This position provides broad exposure to operational and corporate accounting, with responsibility across the monthly close, sales-related accounting, reconciliations, expense activity, and general ledger functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly financial close, including journal entries, account analysis, and supporting reports
  • Prepare and maintain sales journal entries, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unresolved, unusual, or aging items
  • Prepare recurring financial and accounting reports for management
  • Review invoices for appropriate coding, documentation, and processing
  • Work with operational and land teams to address purchase orders, account coding, and accounting questions
  • Review employee expense activity and assist with related reconciliations
  • Monitor company credit card transactions and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and research discrepancies as they arise
  • Assist with special accounting projects, reporting requests, and other initiatives as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in homebuilding, construction, or a closely related industry strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures
  • Hands-on experience with journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Familiarity with sales accounting, invoice processing, expense reporting, and account analysis
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities
  • Experience working with accounting software and/or ERP systems
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
