A large, established organization is looking for a Staff Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This position offers meaningful responsibility across general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting while providing exposure to broader Accounting & Finance initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with established month-end closing timelines
  • Compile and evaluate financial information for assigned accounts and areas throughout the close process
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules
  • Investigate discrepancies, reconciling items, and unusual account activity and assist with timely resolution
  • Review financial variances and provide explanations and supporting analysis to senior accounting leadership
  • Maintain accurate general ledger and subledger records
  • Assist in preparing balance sheet and profit and loss financial reporting
  • Respond to external audit requests and assemble required supporting documentation
  • Provide accounting and reporting assistance related to budgeting activities
  • Support financial and accounting initiatives involving system implementations, audits, budgeting cycles, and other special projects
  • Provide requested financial information and analysis to support broader accounting initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience in a general ledger and month-end close environment required
  • Strong hands-on experience preparing journal entries and completing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including creating, analyzing, and interpreting spreadsheets
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems
  • Ability to meet firm accounting deadlines and work additional hours when necessary during peak financial reporting periods
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
