The Staff Accountant will play an important role within the accounting team, supporting a variety of accounting functions including accounts payable, AIA billing, reconciliations, month-end close, and union payroll. STAFF ACCOUNTANT KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
  • Process and code vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals and documentation
  • Prepare and submit AIA billings, pay applications, and related documentation
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate and timely project billing
  • Assist with union payroll processing, including reviewing timecards, wage rates, deductions, and union requirements
  • The Staff Accountant will perform bank, account, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Assist with financial reporting and construction-related accounting projects
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and respond to vendor and internal inquiries
  • The Staff Accountant will support audits and provide documentation as needed

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE

  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Previous construction accounting experience required
  • Experience with AIA billing and/or union payroll strongly preferred
  • Experience working with an ERP or accounting software system
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and full-cycle accounting processes
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
